Funtek Marble Look Planning Guide
Marble Look Face & Bookmatch Guide
A practical approval system for face quantity, A/B identity, vein direction, continuous layouts, numbered elevations, cutting plans, and replacement panels.
- Face ID, slab number, direction arrow, and planned seam on one approval drawing
- A/B mirrored sets are reserved and packed as a sequence
- Spare panels keep the same face, direction, shade, and batch logic
01 / FACE SYSTEMS
Random, Continuous, and Mirrored Layouts Need Different Order Information
Do not use “bookmatch” as a generic description for any large marble vein. A project is bookmatched only when the actual faces are produced, identified, reserved, approved, and installed as a mirrored sequence.
| Face system | What the pattern does | Required approval | Best use | Replacement rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Random face | Each slab carries the same design language without a guaranteed seam continuation. | Sample, full-slab scale, shade/batch, finish | Countertops, furniture, small wall fields where exact vein continuation is not required | Match product, finish, shade, batch, and visual movement as closely as possible. |
| Directional face | The main movement has a top/bottom or left/right direction. | Direction arrow on every slab and cut part | Waterfalls, islands, wall panels, long furniture fronts | Replacement must use the same orientation and compatible crop. |
| Continuous sequence | Adjacent faces extend the movement in the same direction. | Face numbers, sequence, seam locations, full elevation | Long walls, reception fronts, corridors | Reserve spare faces from the same sequence and batch. |
| A/B bookmatch | One face mirrors the neighbouring face around the joint. | Actual A/B images, centre joint, orientation, finished dimensions | Feature walls, double islands, reception backdrops | Replace the full A/B pair when a single-face visual match cannot be reproduced. |
| Four-face composition | A/B/C/D faces form a planned mirrored or repeating elevation. | Numbered rendered elevation signed before reservation | Lobbies, hotel walls, large architectural features | Order 3–5% spare panels and map each spare to a location. |
02 / APPROVAL DRAWING
One Elevation Must Connect Face Identity, Vein Direction, Cut Size, and Joint Position
A catalogue render is not a production approval. Funtek’s face-layout drawing assigns every full slab and every finished panel to a numbered location before the face set is packed.
A/B mirrored pair
The centre seam is a design line. Both slabs keep the same top direction while the visual is mirrored.
Four-face numbered elevation
The approval records the final left-to-right order; the crate and site labels use the same sequence.
Every approval pack includes
03 / PROJECT RULES
Reserve the Face Set Before Cutting; Approve the Crop Before Final Processing
Send the full elevation
Include finished wall or furniture dimensions, openings, joint preference, viewing direction, and the visual reference. A square-metre quantity alone cannot reserve the correct set.
Approve actual faces
Confirm face quantity, A/B or sequence identity, finish, shade/batch, slab orientation, and whether each face is full slab or cut-to-size supply.
Approve crop and seam
Overlay finished panels on the face images. Move seams or crops before machining when they cut through a focal vein, face centre, tap, socket, or fixture.
Repeat the elevation in the crate
Use the same panel numbers and arrows on drawings, labels, crate lists, and site installation maps. Load the first-needed panels in the agreed unloading order.
Dry-lay and photograph
Place the numbered panels in sequence before adhesive or mechanical fixing. Confirm top direction, joint, lighting, returns, and vein continuity.
Protect the visual system
Use 2–3% general spares and 3–5% on large or complex elevations. For A/B pairs, consider reserving a complete pair rather than one unrelated slab.
04 / CURRENT MARBLE LOOK REFERENCES
Start With the Product, Then Request the Actual Face Set
The products below are pulled from the current Marble Look collection. Their product image establishes design direction; the factory face pack establishes the order-specific sequence.

FUNTEK TECHNICAL LIBRARY
Use the Four Documents as One Project-Control System
The product data sheet defines what is supplied; the face guide defines what is seen; the fabrication manual defines how it is processed and supported; the quality standard defines how it is accepted.
Fabrication & Installation
Radii, cutouts, overhang, support, joints, sinks, and cutting sequence.
02Technical Data Sheet
Body groups, formats, thicknesses, finishes, tests, and slab weights.
03Face & Bookmatch Guide
A/B faces, direction, sequence, layouts, labels, and spare planning.
04Quality & Inspection
Dimensional tolerance, surface checks, batch, shade, packing, and claims.
Send the latest drawing, not only a colour reference.
Include application, product, body type, finish, format, thickness, quantity, face requirement, processing, destination, and project schedule. Funtek will return the material route and factory review points with the quotation.
