About The Project

This landmark project was led by Azure Design Group, aiming to create a world-class hospitality destination along the coastline. The architectural vision demanded seamless, large-scale surfaces that could mirror the natural landscape while enduring a harsh, saline environment.

Finding the right manufacturing partner was critical. The firm required a supplier capable of producing massive slabs with exact color consistency across hundreds of batches, offering precise cutting capabilities, and delivering within a strict 6-month construction schedule.

The Challenges

The exterior facade faced extreme coastal conditions: intense UV radiation, high temperatures, and salt erosion. Traditional natural marble was ruled out due to its tendency to weather and discolor over time.
Furthermore, the grand lobby required massive bookmatched patterns. Maintaining a Delta‑E color variation of less than 1.0 across thousands of square meters is notoriously difficult for standard manufacturers. Finally, structural limits mandated that the facade cladding material be lightweight yet incredibly strong to withstand wind loads.

Finally, structural limits mandated that the facade cladding material be lightweight yet incredibly strong to withstand wind loads.

The Solution

Funtek’s engineering team reviewed the design blueprints and quickly customized a phased manufacturing and delivery plan. We:

  • Recommended 6mm lightweight slabs for the exterior facade to significantly reduce structural load.
  • Implemented strict batch-control technology, ensuring perfect color matching for the vast lobby area.
  • Provided fully bookmatched Calacatta slabs, custom-cut to the architect's exact grid.
  • Utilized reinforced steel-frame crating, resulting in zero transit damage across all sea shipments.

Within just three weeks of final approval, Azure Design Group received the first mock-up components, ready for immediate field validation on the facade structure.

FAQ

Common Questions.

Unlike natural marble, sintered stone is virtually non-porous and highly resistant to environmental stressors. In coastal projects like the Azure Resort, natural stone often oxidizes or yellows due to salt and UV exposure. Funtek sintered stone provides a 100% consistent aesthetic across thousands of square meters with zero risk of structural weathering or color fading, significantly reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Our material features a near-zero water absorption rate (<0.05%), which is critical for coastal environments. It prevents salt-water penetration and chemical erosion from saline air. Additionally, our inorganic pigments ensure the slabs remain UV-stable, meaning the facade will retain its original color and finish even after 20+ years of intense sun and sea-spray exposure.

For large-scale facades, we typically recommend our 6mm ultra-lightweight series. These panels offer the same mechanical strength as thicker materials but reduce the structural weight by approximately 40%. This lightweight profile allows for safer installation at height, reduces the load on the building's foundation, and simplifies the engineering of the mechanical fixing system.

Funtek utilizes advanced digital mapping and precise batch-control technology. For projects requiring seamless patterns across vast lobby walls or facades, we provide sequential slabs designed to align perfectly. Our manufacturing process ensures a Delta-E color variance of less than 1.0, guaranteeing a uniform appearance that is impossible to achieve with natural quarried stone.

Sintered stone is one of the most low-maintenance architectural materials available. Its high-density surface is resistant to graffiti, smog, and biological growth (like algae). For exterior facades, a simple periodic rinse with water is usually sufficient to maintain its appearance, offering hospitality owners a near-zero maintenance solution compared to wood, metal, or porous stone.
