A double-basin lavatory needs independent plumbing coordination
A long vanity can use two bowls or one shared trough. Confirm the user positions, centre-to-centre spacing, faucet locations, drain locations, trap space and cabinet divisions. A symmetrical front view does not prove that the plumbing and drawers can occupy the same space.

What Dimensions Must Be on the Drawing?
Start with the room and installation conditions, then define the fabricated piece. The drawing should identify:
- overall width, depth and finished height;
- wall-to-wall, corner or freestanding installation;
- number, position, width, length and depth of bowls;
- backsplash, side return and apron dimensions;
- faucet type and mounting-hole locations;
- drain outlet position and required service access;
- cabinet, drawer, door and trap clearances;
- wall bracket, subtop, frame or cabinet support; and
- joints, mitres, removable panels and site seams.

A reference image can define the visual direction, but only a coordinated drawing can define the basin, drain, faucet, cabinet, support and installation scope.
How Should Drainage and the Hidden Drain Cover Be Specified?
Drainage should be approved as a system, not as a decorative detail. The bowl or wash deck needs a defined fall toward the outlet, while the drain cover needs enough clearance for water entry and practical removal. The waste fitting, trap and service path must match the cabinet and local plumbing requirements.
Ask the supplier to water-test the completed unit before packing. The test should check whether water reaches the outlet, whether puddles remain in unintended areas, whether the drain cover can be lifted and replaced, and whether joints or fittings show leakage. A short workshop or project video can document the test, but it does not replace local plumbing inspection.
Overflow requirements vary by basin design and market. If an overflow is required, it must be shown in the approved plumbing and fabrication drawings. Never assume that a concealed drain automatically includes an overflow path.
Where Are the Joints and Supports?
Panel-built sintered stone basins can include mitred outer edges, bonded internal corners and an engineered support structure below the visible surface. Ask for a section drawing rather than relying on the word “seamless.” The section should identify the face material, backing or frame, adhesive joints, edge build-up, basin support and connection to the cabinet or wall.
Support matters around faucet holes, drain openings, long spans and narrow strips of material. The finished lavatory should not depend on a decorative edge alone. For wall-hung designs, the wall construction and brackets must be approved by the project engineer or installer responsible for the building.

Sintered stone is a hard finished surface, but exposed corners and fabricated edges still need careful handling. Confirm edge radii or arrises, corner protection, transport supports and the sequence for placing the unit on the cabinet or brackets.
How Do You Choose the Pattern and Finish?
Choose the finish for the wet-use area first, then choose the pattern for the room. A highly reflective surface can emphasize water marks and lighting; a matte surface can create a quieter appearance. The correct cleaning method depends on the exact finish, adhesive joints, drain cover and plumbing hardware.
Pattern direction becomes especially visible on the apron, bowl walls and backsplash. Ask whether adjacent pieces will use a planned continuation, a bookmatched effect or independent cuts. A printed surface pattern will not necessarily continue through an exposed edge, so approve the mitre and edge sample rather than assuming natural-stone behaviour.
Light limestone and travertine looks create a calm spa-like wash area. Strong grey or black veins can make the basin a focal point, but they also make mismatched cuts more obvious.
