Project Planning Tool

Sintered Stone Area & Slab Quantity Calculator

Estimate project area, waste allowance, and approximate slab quantity before preparing your sintered stone RFQ.

Use this tool to estimate the approximate surface area and slab quantity required for sintered stone countertops, bathroom walls, shower walls, interior feature walls, outdoor facades, flooring, and furniture projects.

The result is intended for early planning and RFQ preparation. Final slab quantity should always be confirmed with project drawings, cutting layout, slab orientation, waste allowance, and installer review.

Important note: This calculator provides a preliminary estimate only. Final slab quantity may vary depending on project drawings, cutting layout, slab orientation, veining direction, bookmatching, edge profiles, sink cutouts, installation method, site conditions, and installer approval. Please confirm final quantities with your fabricator, installer, or Funtek project team before ordering.

How to use this calculator

1

Enter each surface area

Add countertops, walls, floors, facade zones, or furniture surfaces as separate areas.

2

Choose slab size and layout

Select a standard Funtek slab size, then choose waste allowance based on project complexity.

3

Copy the RFQ estimate

Use the generated message to start a project review with Funtek before final ordering.

How the calculation works

This calculator uses a simple area-based estimating method for early project planning. It helps you convert rough project dimensions into an approximate slab quantity before preparing an RFQ.

Net project area = Length × Width × Quantity − Deducted openings

Adjusted area = Net project area × (1 + Waste allowance)

Estimated slab quantity = Adjusted area ÷ Area per slab, rounded up to the next whole slab

This method is useful for early planning, but it does not replace CAD cutting layout, bookmatch planning, fabrication drawings, or installer review.

Example estimates by project type

These examples show how different applications may affect the area estimate and waste allowance. They are for planning only.

Kitchen countertop

A 3.0m × 0.65m countertop has a net area of 1.95 m². With 10% waste allowance, the adjusted area is about 2.15 m².

Bathroom wall

Two walls measuring 2.6m × 2.4m each create a net area of 12.48 m². With 12% waste allowance, the adjusted area is about 13.98 m².

Feature wall

A 3.2m × 2.8m feature wall has a net area of 8.96 m². Bookmatched layouts may require about 15% waste allowance or more.

Outdoor facade

Facade projects should be checked against elevation drawings, fixing systems, panel joints, wind-load requirements, and engineering details.

When the final slab quantity may change

Large-format sintered stone projects often require adjustment after reviewing drawings or fabrication details. The final quantity may change because of:

  • Bookmatched or directional veining layouts.
  • Sink cutouts, faucet holes, niches, windows, outlets, or wall openings.
  • Mitered edges, waterfall sides, return panels, or exposed edge details.
  • Facade panel joint design, fixing systems, and elevation drawings.
  • Replacement pieces or spare slabs for long-distance shipping and installation risk.
  • On-site conditions and installer recommendations.

Area Calculator vs Weight Calculator

Funtek provides separate tools for project planning and logistics planning. Use the area calculator first when you are estimating how many slabs may be needed, then use the weight calculator when you need shipping and packaging information.

Tool Best For Use It When
Area & Slab Quantity Calculator Estimating project area, waste allowance, and approximate slab count. You are preparing an early RFQ or checking how many slabs may be needed.
Sintered Stone Weight Calculator Estimating slab weight, A-frame packaging, and logistics planning. You already know slab size and quantity and want to estimate transport weight.

Before you request a quote

To help Funtek confirm your project faster, please prepare the following details when possible:

  • Application area, such as countertop, bathroom wall, facade, floor, or furniture.
  • Preferred slab size and thickness.
  • Estimated project area and waste allowance.
  • Surface finish, color direction, and pattern preference.
  • Destination country or port.
  • Project drawings, elevation drawings, or cutting requirements if available.

Suggested Waste Allowance

  • 5% for simple rectangular wall or floor layouts.
  • 10% for standard countertop or wall projects.
  • 12% for bathroom or shower walls with openings.
  • 15% for bookmatched feature walls or complex cutting.
  • 15–20% for facades or many custom cut panels.

Common Slab Sizes

  • 900 × 1800 mm · 1.62 m²
  • 900 × 2600 mm · 2.34 m²
  • 1200 × 2400 mm · 2.88 m²
  • 1200 × 2600 mm · 3.12 m²
  • 1600 × 3200 mm · 5.12 m²

What This Tool Does

This calculator estimates project area, waste-adjusted area, and approximate slab quantity. It does not replace CAD layout, fabrication drawings, installer review, or final project confirmation.

Choose the slab design before final layout confirmation.

Large-format sintered stone projects usually start with material selection, project area estimation, and slab quantity planning. After choosing the slab design, final quantities should be confirmed with drawings, cutting layout, thickness, edge details, and shipping requirements.

FAQ

How do I calculate sintered stone slab quantity?

The basic method is to calculate the net project area, add a waste allowance, divide by the area of one slab, and round up to the next whole slab.

Is this calculator accurate enough for ordering?

No. This calculator is designed for preliminary planning and RFQ preparation only. Final slab quantity should be confirmed with project drawings, cutting layout, slab orientation, veining direction, bookmatching, cutouts, edge details, and installer approval before placing an order.

How much waste allowance should I add?

Simple rectangular layouts may use about 5%. Standard projects often use about 10%. Bathroom walls, bookmatched feature walls, many cutouts, or complex facade panels may need 12–20% or more.

Can this calculator be used for countertops?

Yes. It can provide a preliminary area and slab quantity estimate for countertops and kitchen islands. Final layout should still be confirmed by a fabricator.

Can this calculator be used for bathroom wall panels?

Yes. Add each bathroom wall or shower wall as a separate surface, deduct openings if needed, and choose a higher waste allowance when there are niches, windows, plumbing cutouts, or many edge details.

Can this calculator be used for outdoor facades?

Yes, it can help estimate facade cladding area and approximate panel quantity. Final facade quantities should be checked against elevation drawings, wind-load design, fixing system, joint layout, and panel cutting plan.

Does this calculator include slab weight?

No. This page focuses on area and slab quantity. For weight, A-frame packaging, and logistics planning, use the Funtek Sintered Stone Weight Calculator.
