How to use the result

Use the calculator as a planning checkpoint, not the final cutting plan.

1. Measure net area

Break the project into rectangles. For countertops, measure each run and island separately.

2. Add waste

Cutouts, vein direction, and bookmatch layouts usually need more allowance.

3. Confirm slab layout

Final ordering should consider faces, pattern direction, edges, crates, and shop drawings.

Reference table

Typical waste allowance by project type.

Project typeStarting allowanceWhy it changes
Simple wall or furniture panels5-10%Low cut complexity, fewer openings, flexible layout direction.
Kitchen countertop or island10-15%Sink and hob cutouts, seams, overhangs, edge details, and transport risk.
Bathroom / shower walls10-15%Niches, plumbing openings, corner returns, and matched wall elevations.
Facade or directional pattern15-20%Large elevations, strict alignment, anchors, corners, and replacement reserve.

FAQ

Questions buyers usually ask before ordering slabs.

How do I calculate sintered stone slab quantity?

Calculate net project area, add a waste allowance, divide by one slab area, and round up.

Is this accurate enough for ordering?

No. It is for early RFQ planning. Final ordering should be checked against drawings, cutting layout, slab orientation, edge details, and packing requirements.

Why does the calculator add waste?

Large-format slabs lose material through trimming, cutouts, corners, breakage reserve, pattern matching, and direction control.

Can one slab cover a full countertop?

Sometimes, depending on countertop dimensions, slab size, openings, seam tolerance, transport limits, and pattern direction.
