01 / FACE SYSTEMS

Random, Continuous, and Mirrored Layouts Need Different Order Information

Do not use “bookmatch” as a generic description for any large marble vein. A project is bookmatched only when the actual faces are produced, identified, reserved, approved, and installed as a mirrored sequence.

One Elevation Must Connect Face Identity, Vein Direction, Cut Size, and Joint Position

A catalogue render is not a production approval. Funtek’s face-layout drawing assigns every full slab and every finished panel to a numbered location before the face set is packed.

The centre seam is a design line. Both slabs keep the same top direction while the visual is mirrored.

Every approval pack includes

Product name, body type, format, thickness, finish, and order reference.
Actual face count and unique face ID: A/B or 01/02/03/04.
Top-direction arrow on the full slab and every cut panel.
Finished panel dimensions, visible face, crop, and joint width.
Left-to-right and floor-to-ceiling installation sequence.
Location of outlets, taps, fixtures, returns, and other penetrations.
Crate/rack number and package sequence matching the elevation.
Replacement panel or spare-face mapping for critical locations.

Reserve the Face Set Before Cutting; Approve the Crop Before Final Processing

BEFORE QUOTATION

Send the full elevation

Include finished wall or furniture dimensions, openings, joint preference, viewing direction, and the visual reference. A square-metre quantity alone cannot reserve the correct set.

BEFORE RESERVATION

Approve actual faces

Confirm face quantity, A/B or sequence identity, finish, shade/batch, slab orientation, and whether each face is full slab or cut-to-size supply.

BEFORE CUTTING

Approve crop and seam

Overlay finished panels on the face images. Move seams or crops before machining when they cut through a focal vein, face centre, tap, socket, or fixture.

BEFORE PACKING

Repeat the elevation in the crate

Use the same panel numbers and arrows on drawings, labels, crate lists, and site installation maps. Load the first-needed panels in the agreed unloading order.

AT INSTALLATION

Dry-lay and photograph

Place the numbered panels in sequence before adhesive or mechanical fixing. Confirm top direction, joint, lighting, returns, and vein continuity.

SPARE PLAN

Protect the visual system

Use 2–3% general spares and 3–5% on large or complex elevations. For A/B pairs, consider reserving a complete pair rather than one unrelated slab.

Face-count rule: a product tagged “bookmatched” is not enough to promise a particular A/B or four-face set. The quotation and face-layout approval must state the actual face count available for the order.
