Approve the exact product and finish under the intended colour temperature and viewing distance. Place the sample beside timber, metal, floor, ceiling and upholstery selections. For a large or highly visible wall, review a full-slab image and a representative mock-up so the team can approve texture, sheen, joint colour and light interaction together.
Start the Panel Layout From the Elevation Drawing
The wall elevation is the main coordination document. Draw the true wall width and height, then place doors, reveals, glazing, ceilings, skirtings, screens, signs, sockets, switches, access panels, shelves and other fixed elements. Overlay the usable slab dimensions and test alternative joint grids.
A strong layout avoids narrow strips, uncontrolled slivers around doors and random seams through logos or screens. It also gives the factory, fabricator and installer the same reference for piece identification. Number each panel and connect the wall elevation to a cutting list and packing sequence.
Do not choose a slab first and discover the joint pattern on site. Make the product, elevation and usable slab size agree before fabrication.

At minimum, the detail should show panel thickness, substrate or frame, adhesive or mechanical support where specified, return depth, joint line and adjacent finish. Confirm which party fabricates the edge and which party sets the final site datum.
Match the Installation System to the Wall and Panel
The correct installation route depends on the panel format and thickness, wall height, substrate, service zones, local requirements and the selected system. Adhesive installation over a prepared substrate and mechanically supported systems are not interchangeable assumptions. The project designer, engineer, system supplier and installer should define the approved assembly.
Before site work, verify substrate flatness and condition, setting-out datums, fixing zones, lifting access, safe handling, panel sequence, temporary support, joint controls and protection after installation. Large pieces also require a delivery and internal movement plan: receiving access, lift dimensions, turning routes and storage can determine whether the intended panel reaches the wall intact.
